If it is 0 do nothing.

If it is 1, 2, 3 or 4 round down to the nearest 10 cents by changing the second digit to the right of the decimal point to 0. If it is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 round up to the nearest 10 cents by by changing the second digit to the right of the decimal point to 0 and increasing the one’s place value of your amount by 1.

Round up to the Nearest 10 Cents

If the hundredths’ value of a certain amount is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9, then, according to our rounding rules, you round up to the nearest 10 cents.

However, the term round up to the nearest 10 cents means that all hundredths in between 1 and 9 are rounded up by changing value in the hundredths’ place to 0 and increasing the value in the one’s place by 1.

Round Down to the Nearest 10 Cents

If the hundredths’ value of a certain amount is 1, 2, 3 or 4, then, according to our rounding rules, you round down to the nearest 10 cents.
